The new Council was sworn in during an inauguration council meeting on 10 June 2011. The new Council will be following the footsteps of two (2) previous councils and will be expected to continue and even improve on the work done by their predecessors. During the ceremony the new councillors proudly took the oath of office in groups of five and then individually signed the oath, thereby re-affirming their commitment to serving the community of the Frances Baard District to the best of their ability.
The meeting was open to the public with special invitations that were issued to a number of dignitaries. Among the invited guests who attended was the Premier of the Northern Cape, Mrs Hazel Jenkins, the Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Legislature, Mrs Juanita Beukes, MEC Finance, Economic Affairs & Tourism, Mr John Block, MEC Environmental Affairs & Nature Conservation, Mrs Sylvia Lucas, various high ranking members of political parties, Mayors from other district municipalities in the province, various councillors and senior officials from local municipalities within the district. Cllr. M M Moloi was elected as the new Executive Mayor for the next five (5) years and Cllr. B M Maribe as the Speaker. The newly elected Council is listed as follows:
